Samara Sofian, Head of SchoolSamara Sofian is proud to serve The Silver Academy as the Head of School. She holds a Master’s Degree in Jewish Education and a Masters of Business Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Management, both from the American Jewish University and a Bachelor's Degree in History from Ithaca College. Previously she has served as the Silver Academy Director of Development and the Director of Education in synagogues in
Rochester, NY and Milwaukee, WI. Samara grew up in Central PA and now resides on her family's horse farm, along with her husband Joshua and their three children, Nadav, Ziva and Orly. Nadav is a proud alum of The Silver Academy; Ziva and Orly are current students. As Head of School, Samara is responsible for the school's daily operations. Kimberlea Konowitch, Director of Business & DevelopmentKimberlea Konowitch is proud to serve The Silver Academy as the
Director of Business & Development. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Kansas State University. Her background includes many years as a Senior Financial Analyst at The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as well as almost ten years as the Controller for The Pennsylvania Environmental Council, a statewide environmental non-profit. She was also a Vice President of Corporate Compliance for a large banking corporation in Kansas City and an accountant for John Deere Corporation. Kimberlea is the product of a military family upbringing and has lived many places, including overseas in Germany. She moved to Central Pennsylvania from Dallas, TX and her husband Rob is a Pennsylvanian from Philadelphia. Her daughter McKenna has attended The Silver Academy since Kindergarten. She looks forward to working with The Silver Academy community to ensure the financial stability of the school, now and long into the future. Jackie Rubin, Community Outreach Program CoordinatorJackie Rubin is thrilled to be The Community Outreach Program Coordinator at The Silver Academy. She grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and attended the University of Maryland, College Park. She is married to Scott Rubin, a Silver Academy alumni, and together they have 3 children, Noah, Daniel and Samantha (the younger 2 are Silver Academy students). Neima Schertz, Director of AdmissionsNiema Schertz grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland where she attended a Jewish day school. She later graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York City. She has one child at the Silver Academy and 2 graduates of The Silver Academy. Her husband David Schertz is an alumnus and both of her in-laws Rabbi Chaim Schertz and Reva Schertz have taught at the school in the past. Amy Guilmette, Administrative Assistant
Amy Guilmette grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2005 with a degree in communication. She has worked in the front office of the Silver Academy since 2008. She enjoys working with the Head of School, teachers and parents to assure that each school day runs smoothly. Mrs. Rubin loves working in the Silver Academy Office! The mother of three former Silver Academy students and the grandparent of 2 current students, Myrna looks forward to being with the students each day and also working with such wonderful staff members.
